Common questions
These are questions that people often ask, but if you have any questions that are not covered on this page, please contact me.
How much do lessons cost?
£40.00 for a 45min lesson. Introductory lessons will be up to an hour but still charged at the same price.
I recommend a block of lessons.
A block of 6 lessons costs £220 (usually £240).
A block of 10 lessons costs £360 (usually £400 so gives you 1 lesson free).
I also offer a FREE no obligation 20min taster lesson.
When can I come for a lesson?
I teach Monday, Wednesday and Friday daytimes from my home in Bishopston, Bristol or online.
How long do I need to come for lessons?
Lessons are flexible according to your needs.
Most people benefit from at least 10 regular lessons.
Initially it is beneficial to come regularly, at least once a week, in order to really make use of the new skills you will learn in all aspects of your life.
This may seem like a big commitment, but once you have learned the skills, they will continue to benefit you for the rest of your life.
What do I need to wear to a lesson?
Whatever you normally wear is fine. The lessons will be conducted fully clothed. You may be asked to remove your shoes.
We may also work lying down so you may feel more comfortable in trousers rather than a skirt.
Can I have lessons in my own home?
Yes if you have difficulty in getting to me I can come to you. Please get in touch to arrange this.
Are group lessons available?
Yes. See my Lessons & Workshops page for up to date courses.
You could also share a lesson with a friend or two so please get in touch to arrange this.
Am I too old or too young to learn?
No. It is possible to learn The Alexander Technique at any age.
The famous author George Bernard Shaw went to F. M. Alexander for lessons at the age of 80 and believed that it made the last 10 years of his life the best.
I am DBS checked and have an up to date first aid qualification.
Can The Alexander Technique help my back pain?
Clinical trial results published in the British Medical Journal show that Alexander Technique lessons provide long-term benefit for chronic and recurrent back pain sufferers.
Everyone is individual and it depends on the specific problem. It is possible that the Alexander Technique will help the problem by working indirectly with your posture and how you move. Alexander Technique teachers are however not trained to diagnose.
The Alexander Technique will certainly give you the tools to work with the discomfort or pain and find ways of finding greater ease.
